For many, Christmas Day is initiated with early morning gift unwrapping, spiced egg nog sipping, and cozying by the warm fire. While these cheerful folk exchange stocking stuffers and plan out their day, I am already on the chairlift taking my first pull of whisky and taking note which lifts will avoid crowds. Fortunately for me, my closest friends and family are right next to me on the hill, belting out “Ho Ho Hos” and “Merry Christmas”. Are we loud? That would be an understatement. Are we dancing between every turn? Well, after several martinis at the Park City Christmas Martini Bar, located by an old mine shaft next to Thaynes Chair… expect nothing less. After skiing our hearts out, we all feast on après nachos and reminisce on previous Christmas mornings, usually the ones that resulted in epic pow shots. I spend the rest of the day in my thermals, watching ski movies, drinking tea, and planning out a Grand Targhee family ski trip. As the day goes by, I am reminded how lucky I am to be surrounded by loved ones. If anyone has spreading stoke down to a science, my family are connoisseurs. Happy Holidays!
