I can't remember exactly how many weeks before the "Into The Mind" premier. But lets just call it three weeks. Three weeks before the premier I found my self, putting around on the net. Sussing out videos to build my stoke. Looking for something. Something... amazing.
Something polarizing. Of course it also had to be some sick feat of skiing.
After all, the season was upon us. And I would not be denied.
Now, I can't be sure what exactly I typed into the search bar. What combination of random searches turned up which video. But I do recall reading something you had written, regarding your mental and physical preparation for hitting these massive cliffs. And there was that dub-step-y Go-Pro spot with your POV that just blew folks away.
Then I found it.
This day you wrote about above, was indeed some consilience of energy and stoke.
It was a wide shot from the bottom of the chair. BAM!
Full outlaws, like 12 deep, shredding that face all at the same time to your left. A person in yellow hitting the double. And before you could even finish gasping at that, here comes you, soaring off the top. That whole shot was amazing. The funny thing is... that wasn't the only video I found on You tube.
Another would turn up. This one shot by someone with a camera phone, slightly different angle. Tons of chatter in the lift line. Poles banging together. People losing their shit. Then another video, and another one.
One from the top, as you disappear over the roll. One shot from in the middle of the trees to your right, and all you could see was a god damn super man flying through the frame and vanishing past the trees.
"holy shit!"
I heard that a lot in the background. So much cheering. In total there were FIVE separate videos all showing the same moment. It was like being there, and experiencing it as five different people. I have never ever seen anything like it. It was amazing. It was joy. It was pure stoke, and focus, and adrenaline. Did I mention the joy?
When I finally sat down at the Princess Theater In Edmonton, Alberta (<3 Sherpas), friends in tow, to watch the film we had all held our breath for. I saw it coming, recognized it. Totally Primed.
Julian, the audience lost their mind!
And just like that, we were pumped for ski season.
