Over the past couple years I’ve begun to explore more of what it has to offer and even after a lifetime in HK have only recently seen areas and views for the first time. Saturday morning was once a time to lie in with a pounding headache but is now generally a time to enjoy the outdoors and push further. That’s not to say those hangovers don’t still happen, just maybe not as frequently. Currently, I’m running to take part in ultra-marathons – after all the longer you go for the more of the outdoors you get to see. And that’s why I run.” – Ben Lee Anyone that lives in Hong Kong knows that finding clear, un-polluted and colourful weather is hard to come by, so to find these moments, this film project took us a year to complete. But when these days do arrive, there is nowhere is the world quite like Hong Kong. It’s famous skyline is what has made Hong Kong so famous but also, one of the only things people think of when the hear of Hong Kong. What people don’t know is that 40% of HK consists of country parks and nature reserves and that you can find spectacular views and trails only 20 minutes from the city. It was our goal to showcase the other side of HK and that is not just a home to one of the worlds most famous skylines.

I had just moved from Hong Kong to England and even though I had been skiing for 14 years I didn’t know that ski DVD’s existed! The name of the movie was “The Tangerine Dream” and was the catalyst for my ski movie addiction and travelling the world in search of an adventure. Among the many mind boggling segments, the one that stood out to me the most was when Micah Black, Dash Longe and co visited Gulmarg, India. The place looked wild, the people looked friendly and on top of all that, the snow looked out of this world! And this February, 8 years later, my brother, a group of friends and myself were on a plane and heading to this dream destination. This video is a close a reflection to my trip as I could make. Gulmarg wasn’t having the best snow year, in fact the 10 days I was there were the first skiable days of the season so we got super lucky. Despite this, the trip was all time and you can read the full write-up of the trip here: robin-lee.squarespace.com/blog/gulmarg/17/2/2015 Hope you all enjoy! With the crew feeling fresh they weren’t able to just sit and chill in the lodge, play cards and let the day roll on by, but instead used a small patch of snow outside our accommodation to build a small rail garden. While the rest of the film crew were busy setting up interviews for the athletes, I took the opportunity to try out some new equipment and get some shots of the guys messing around on the rails. Jonny Durst, another filmer from Level 1 kindly let me borrow his FS700, so I could test out some new stuff. The obvious feature of the FS700 being “MegaMo” and yes, I got fully hooked on it. This little edit is what I came up with, aptly named “A Casual Afternoon” as the athletes were taking it easy as well as myself just messing around with the new camera. Hope you enjoy and of course, thanks to Level 1 for the opportunity to be able to join them for the SuperUnknown Finals and film with them.
